Sports Engine:

The Sports Engine app is mandatory in order to have the schedule for practice and games and receive alerts throughout the season.

Equipment:

Players need to obtain their own equipment (except that CYL maintains certain goalie equipment). Bardown has starter packages available for beginners. https://www.bardownlacrosse.com/

If you have a jersey or penny from prior years, please bring it to practice. If you do not have a prior season’s uniform to practice in, athletic shorts and T-shirt under shoulder pads will work.

Uniforms:

Uniforms are ordered as part of your registration and will be shipped to you at the address provided at registration.  Returning players with last year's uniform do not need to order a new uniform.

US Lacrosse Requirment

You must register first with US Lacrosse and then return to this Registration Session to signup.  If you have not already signed up with US Lacrosse, please follow these steps:

  • Step 1:  Obtain current US Lacrosse Membership
    • TO RENEW OR REGISTER A NEW PLAYER:  CLICK HERE to go to US Lacrosse Registration and register your player(s). Be sure to PRINT and/or SAVE their confirmation code(s). Remember to register EACH of your players with US Lacrosse. Each player must have their own unique US Lacrosse confirmation number.
    • TO LOOK UP A US LACROSSE MEMBERSHIP:  CLICK HERE to go to US Lacrosse Membership Lookup.
  • Step 2:  Return to this registration and proceed. Later in this registration session you will need to enter the US Lacrosse Confirmation Code that you received in Step 1.

  • What equipment is needed?
    • ***There is new requirement for cardiac approved shoulder pads and chest pad.***  Effective January 1, 2022, shoulder pads for boys’ field players must be designed for lacrosse and meet NOCSAE standard ND200.  See https://www.usalacrosse.com/lacrosse-chest-protector-faq

  • How long is the Lax Season?
    • The season runs from Feb - May.
  • When are practices?
    • Practice days are Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • How long is practice?
    • 8U will practice for 1.5 hours.
    • 10U-14U  will practice for 2 hours.
  • When are games?
    • Boys games are played on Saturdays. 
    • A two day tournament style Jamboree ends the season in late May
  • What time do games start?
    • Games start as early 8:30am until 4:30pm.
  • Where are games played?
    • All games are played at Plantation Park, 3060 Racetrack Rd, St Johns FL.
  • When do practices start?
    • Spring 2024 practices start in February. Date TBA. 
  • When does the season end?
    • The season ends with a weekend long Jamboree before Memorial Day Weekend
  • Who are the coaches?
    • We have both professional and volunteer coaches, incuding Jason Alford, Creekside High Boys Coach

Coach Jason Alford

Coach Alford was named the 2019 and 2021 US Lacrosse North Florida Coach of the year as Head Coach of Creekside High School. Additionally Coach Alford’s background includes:

4-year starter on defense from 1992 – 1996 at NC State and was an NCLL All Star

Coach at Charlotte Latin School

Head Coach and Assistant Coach, Havre de Grace High School in Maryland from 2002 to 2013

US Lacrosse Harford County (MD) Coach of the Year in 2005

Assistant Coach for the Nationally Ranked Junior College Essex (MD) Knights under Head Coach Brian Duncan

In addition to his duties as Head Coach at Creekside Coach Alford is also a Director for FC Crush, Florida Crabs, North Florida Stars, and is a North Florida Lacrosse Coaches Association Board Member.
